Livefood Springtails

Keep your bioactive enclosure naturally cleaner with Livefood Springtails. These tiny, active creatures are a popular choice for bioactive vivariums and terrariums, where they help break down decaying organic matter and recycle nutrients within the enclosure.

Springtails are an excellent clean-up crew for a wide range of reptile, amphibian and invertebrate enclosures. They work alongside other natural clean-up organisms to help maintain a healthier, more balanced bioactive environment while reducing the build-up of mould and waste.

Directions for Use

Add springtails directly to a suitable bioactive enclosure, preferably into areas containing moist substrate, leaf litter, moss or other organic material where they can establish and reproduce. Ensure the enclosure provides suitable moisture and environmental conditions for the species.

Springtails are best used as part of a complete bioactive setup alongside appropriate substrate, live plants and other suitable clean-up crew organisms. Avoid introducing them into excessively dry conditions, as they require moisture to thrive.

Our Pet Shop Tip

Springtails are one of the most useful additions to a bioactive enclosure because they help keep the substrate working naturally. They feed on decaying organic matter, including mould and waste, helping to recycle nutrients and keep the enclosure cleaner. For the best results, provide plenty of suitable hiding areas such as leaf litter, moss and natural substrate, and maintain appropriate humidity and moisture levels. Springtails work particularly well alongside other clean-up crew species, helping create a thriving miniature ecosystem.
